Our River Runs Through It Housing Development which is located off the Arima ByPass Road, Arima, has been re-named Carina Gardens. This decision was made in recognition of Arima’s history and the significance of the First Peoples to Arima. As such, the HDC, after consultation with the Santa Rosa Carib Community, agreed to Carina Gardens. “Carina” is the name of one of the tribes which settled in Arima and resisted Spanish rule at that time.
In August, the Malabar Site 3 Housing Development was named Nepuyo Court, in recognition of the contribution of the Nepuyo tribe and its chief, Hyarima to the district of Arima and environs.
