In keeping with its corporate social responsibility thrust to support the development of youth in its housing communities, the Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation (HDC) contributed school bags and stationery items to seventy-five (75) students to help them prepare for the new academic school year. The selected students reside in Oropune Gardens, Piarco; and some of our communities located in Port of Spain East and San Fernando and environs.
The HDC believes that its mandate extends beyond providing physical structures to building and developing sustainable housing communities. Many of the families in the HDC’s database are considered low income earners; with some taking home a combined monthly household income of $5,000.00. It is against this backdrop that the HDC found it necessary to conduct this initiative again in 2019. Last year, the HDC contributed 60 school bags and stationery items to young residents in Beetham Gardens, East Port of Spain, Chaguanas, San Fernando and Maloney.
