Every year on June 5, governments, civil society and various organisations commemorate World Environment Day (WED), which was first recognized by the United Nations in 1974. Since then, this day has been used as a platform for raising awareness on environmental issues such as pollution, recycling, climate change, wildlife and sustainable development. Celebrating this day is not only limited to countries and organisation as we all have a personal responsibility to preserve our environment, reduce our carbon footprint and live healthier lifestyles.
A simple way which you can commemorate WED 2021, is by creating a kitchen garden. This project will allow you to produce food that can be used to feed your families, reduce your market bills and even limit the number of times you visit the groceries, especially in these “pandemic times”.
