On Saturday October 6th, the HDC launched a Community Outreach series focused on meeting the needs of its residents. At this Cottage Meeting, residents were able to meet with various departments within the Corporation to communicate challenges they may be experiencing.
In his Opening Remarks on behalf of Brent Lyons, HDC Managing Director, Jeremy Campbell, Senior Manager Allocations and Settlements noted the overall aims of the Community Outreach series:
– Engage with residents in order to develop a greater appreciation for the needs and concerns of communities
– To allow the HDC to address and improve the conditions in housing communities
– To establish Management Companies and Resident Associations, which will provide the HDC with greater autonomy and an opportunity to manage their own affairs and to be less reliant on the HDC
Representatives of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts and Ministry of Social Development and Family Services were also present to provide information on their services.
These Cottage meetings be held over a period of a year as the HDC continues to engage with all its Communities. The next session will be held at Lion’s Gate, Chaguanas.
